The Yorkshire and Humber Recognition Pilot
Recognising Community Development Practitioners Skills and Abilities through Reflection
To be endorsed by the England Standards Board for Community Development Qualifications and Learning (ESB)
This project gives formal recognition for community development practitioners who do not have community development qualifications. At the moment there is a lack of relevant qualifications and learning opportunities for community development. The Recognition Pilot is an attempt to put meaningful learning and professional development back on the table for community development practitioners.
On successful completion of the project, participants get a certificate of recognition from the ESB, a national body charged with overseeing the quality of community development learning in England.
Participants will benefit by:
- Taking part in learning which is not reliant on essays or an NVQ model;
- Obtaining a certificate of recognition from the national endorsing body for community development learning and qualifications;
- Consolidating what they have learned as a result of what you have done;
- Discussing their learning, progress and areas for development with an experienced community development mentor;
- Developing their professional practice;
- Opening up avenues for further progression in learning, employment and community development;
- Having expenses paid.
To be successful on the programme you need to:
- Be doing community development practice, or have been doing community development practice within the last two years; (this can be paid or unpaid community development practice)
- Have the time to complete a reflective and creative portfolio by March 2010;
- Attend induction prior to Christmas 2009;
- Meet with a mentor to discuss, advise and guide you to successful completion;
- Want to reflect on your practice and learning;
- Complete an application form by 4th December.
