The Yorkshire Papers: Perspectives on community empowerment

E-mail Print PDF

As the empowerment programme that has sponsored YHEP over the last four years comes to an end, the REP plan to publish a set of legacy papers. We are looking for around 7 – 10 papers which will be authored by policy makers, practitioners, supporters and activists. The complete set of papers will include an editorial introduction.

YHCDN has been asked if we want to contribute.

This set of papers should contribute an analysis and critique of the nature of working collectively towards transformative social justice in England and specifically, Yorkshire and Humber, over the last few years and currently. By bringing together a range of authors who locate their work both inside and outside the community empowerment and development tradition, the REP wish to highlight different perspectives that examine how collective decision-making and action can be used both to strengthen and undermine social justice claims for marginalised groups.

More details on this are available to download here
A set of papers from practitioners in Glasgow has recently been produced and can be seen here which might aid inspiration!

YHCDN are seeking ideas about what we might want to put in as a contribution from Community Development, so if you have any ideas or would like to be involved get in touch, we also plan to have some time at our conference on 18th Jan so we can talk about it then as well.
